After a very pleasant night flight to an early morning arrival in Paris, I headed directly to the Montparnasse train station. Even at 7 am, it is a busy place with hundreds of travelers heading south.
Due to the train strike, I changed my ticket for an earlier train to Bayonne. Once there, I knew I'd have to figure out an alternative way to get to SJPP since the strike had closed down all rail transportation in the southern province of Aquitaine.
The high speed train to Bayonne hit speeds up to 120 mph and it seemed to take no time at all to reach Bayonne. I was able to grab a couple hours of sleep since I got very little on the airplane. In Bayonne, a German couple and I shared a taxi for the last leg of the trip.
In the couple hours I did have in Paris, I enjoyed a quite walk through the Luxembourg Gardins and the old neighborhoods where Hemingway lived nearly 100 years ago.
